把苏州带回家

在猫的天空之城喝咖啡，买一杯卡布，加5元便可以把苏州带回家。我对杯子有种不可理喻的情意，加5元，当然忍不住加了。

现在，这个杯子便是我平日在家里和咖啡的杯子了。

无意间翻箱倒柜，把我这几年来的日记都翻了出来。完整写完的有四本，还有一本还在“使用中”。

五本里，有两本是旅游日记。就是我飞行的时候都会带上的。一本已在2010年上海宁波游时用完。另一本，还在使用中的状态。

还有一本，是我2005年，在北京学生交换计划半年的日记。

还有两本，是我大学时期直至第一年当上班族的芝麻绿豆的日记。

2007年以后，除了旅游，我没有再写日记。我不仅在反省？是我的生活太闷了，以致不值得一提？还是，已经长大，很多事情已经不想写下来？

亲密日记（四）

圣诞节前夕，新加坡植物园Halia Restaurant吃brunch。我试用毓豪的60mm镜头。

过去的四年，我从来没有在新加坡陪毓豪。年底是公司强迫性假期，我从来都不肯乖乖留在原地。去年恰巧机票买迟了，所以圣诞节还在新加坡，过了圣诞我还是飞了。

难得的假期，我们出游了。

可爱精致漂亮的事物，是女人的致命伤。

知道平江路上有这家猫的天空之城，很想进去探个究竟。但一直都不知道有无时间。用过晚饭，走在暗暗无甚人烟的平江路上，爸爸妈妈二姨都摸不着头脑，平江路有什么好。偏偏我们仨却是喜欢这种平静，还有一路上小小的可爱精品店。突然妈妈人有三急，想上洗手间，让我有参观猫的天空之城的借口。妈妈上洗手间，我负责点了所有人的饮料，就在这家可爱温馨的点耗上了一晚。

这些可爱的明信片算起来一点都不贵，一张才2元。面对着这些明信片，我差点崩溃，好想把所有明信片都买了。可结果，我只买了几张，都寄出去了。当然，有一张是寄回来给男人的。那我就可以拥有她咯！

猫的天空之城有代寄服务，即刻的也有，给未来的也有。只要标明是何年何月何日想把这封信寄出去，然后将它正确地放置在相中的那个柜子里。时候到了，店主会帮你把信件寄出去。

我在上海田子坊也玩过这玩意儿。寄了一张生日卡给去年生日的姐姐，还有一张给自己。偏偏我以为是去年的生日，结果没收到。我忘了我是寄给几岁的自己，当然也忘了内容写些什么。

这一回，在猫的天空之城我却没有再玩。

温馨的角落，最适合偷情不过

特别喜欢这个有点昏暗的角落，可想像小两口在这里偷情谈心。

我当然不是来偷情的，带着一家大小来做咖啡馆还是第一次。我们分开两座，我和弟弟恰巧在窗口边的小桌，享受两姐弟拍拖的滋味。

爸爸妈妈二姨面对我们仨，跑上跑下、拍照、忙着写明信片、盖章、贴邮票、写留言⋯⋯只能够带着一幅“真不能明白”的表情，容忍我们。当然，安慰的是猫的天空之城还是有好咖啡，让他们三人在那里聊个天南地北⋯⋯

算是我们最享受的一晚。

热闹·冷清

旅行结束的时候，最痛苦的就是离别。从一行人热热闹闹，到一个人冷冷清清。

长期在小红点居住了这些年，还是没有习惯离开家人；回家过年过节，还是特别高兴。竟然多年不变。

回来看照片，真恨不得明天就是新年，可以马上回家过年！

雷峰塔

说到雷峰塔，当然就想到白蛇传。到了雷峰塔，我爸爸还口口声声说要打救白蛇呢！

不知道大家对白蛇传有何印象。个人而言，说到白蛇传，我就想起中学时期。中学时期，华乐几乎是我的一切。白蛇传是我们的华乐生涯里其中一场音乐会。笛子独奏家，还是特意从新加坡邀请到槟城表演的。虽然对白蛇传的音乐印象已经模糊到不剩百分之一，但是，对于其中一次在会议厅里的练习，“雷峰夕照”乐章里给我带来的激动，至今仍然记得。不知道为什么，那一次感觉特别对。当初没有看过雷峰塔，却也好像感觉到雷峰夕照。

到了西湖，才想起当初佳慧也曾经在部落里说过西湖旁的雷峰塔。

原本的雷峰塔早已经在1924年倒塌。现今我们看见的雷峰塔是1999年重建的。不过，雷峰塔的原址还在此刻的雷峰塔下。

雷峰塔的入门票是40元，进入雷峰塔范围，才发现有电梯上塔顶。我想这大概是重建的唯一好处。

可惜冬天的天气不理想，天空总是灰蒙蒙一片，雷峰夕照注定只能够留在想象空间里。

我很喜欢有朋友到北京。

我是想念北京的。一直想找机会再回到北京，可是心里总是忐忑。越是想念的地方，越是不可以再回去。万一一切已经不复当年，万一我对她的印象完全毁灭，万一⋯⋯万一⋯⋯所以，过了五年，对于北京，我还是止于想念。

慧芳之前到北京旅游，问我要给我带些什么。我很想说，回忆。可是，我说了老舍茶馆的花茶。慧芳二话不说的买了四颗。我因为没有透明的茶壶，一直不肯泡。昨天终于被我买到了！贵是贵了一点，泡了一壶丹桂飘香，还是很开心。

Christmas Came Early

It's never easy to set a perfect date for party, especially in December. When it gets even tougher like this year, we had our Xmas party 2 weeks before Xmas :)

To be honest, the reason we had a party was so that we have a reason to get our favourite log cake from Marriott Hotel. We could never finish a 1kg log cake on our own, and it's sinful anyway! So we got more ~~victims~~ friends to share the ~~sins~~ delicious food.

It wasn't a proper Xmas party. We had Japanese Shabu Shabu so it was easier to prepare. Other than shabu shabu, we had log cake (of course!), beer, cocktails and chips with dips. And while preparing cocktails for our guest, we fell in love with them ourselves. Think we will just get addicted to it!

We didn't take any photo, except for the log cake. We were too busy eating!

The best part of the party was, moon gazing. Yes, we only got to know it's lunar eclipse at 10.30pm. All of us, rushed out of the house to witness the lunar eclipse. Sounded silly, we sat at the park for more than one and a half hour looking at the moon.

It was in fact the most romantic Xmas party I have ever had!

My Own Food Therapy

I wasn't having my best week.

The only feeling I had this morning, was "Thank goodness it's Friday!".

I don't normally feel this because I had a tough week. I normally ONLY have the TGIF feeling because I had something interesting and exciting in the weekends.

I don't normally have XXX-day Blues because of what I have to face, but only the crowd I have to face in the trains and buses.

But this week, I had it all.

I don't normally cry because what I had in work. But after taken all the craps for a week, I decided to let go of myself. I found it silly. This was only the second time I broke down over four and a half years. The first time, I was a witness of an lab accident.

I don't like this.

The only thing I wanted after work, was to come back and cook myself a dinner. Created a pasta for myself, with anything I can find in my fridge. It turned out good, but needed improvement in seasoning, maybe I'll share next time.

Then, I made myself a coffee, to go with my chocolate bites.

And go with Modern Family, and teared to the touching scenes.

Sinatra坐落在巴塞罗那La Rambla附近的一条无人的小巷，找到这家餐厅完全是个意外。

有位西班牙男人在街上派宣传单，碰巧派给了我们，一群正在找吃的游客。他说他的餐厅保证好吃，如果吃了不喜欢，吃饱后可以出来踩他的脚。看他这么有诚意，我们便进去看看。

走入小巷的第一个感觉并不好，小巷黑黑暗暗，而且还有尿味。正当我们掉头走的那一刻，我在餐厅门口瞄到了Trip Advisor的logo。原来，这家黑黑暗暗的小店，被Trip Advisor在2010选为最好吃的餐厅之一。

Trip Advisor一直是我旅游的好伴侣，我对它有一定的信心，所以我们改变了主意，决定进去试一试。

Sinatra虽然不是米其林名单里的餐厅，在Trip Advisor Barcelona排名第33,食物是相当的不错，而且价钱也不贵。我还是很庆幸在最后一刹那被我瞄见了Trip Advisor。

就因为在这里，我学到了原来羊奶芝士和蜜糖还有balsamic vinegar，是天作之合 :) 我爱煞这盘撒拉！

西班牙的熏肉特别好吃，我每天从早餐开始吃，都不觉得厌。

Tomato & Caprese with Pesto Sauce。我平时是不吃番茄的，但是这里的番茄很新鲜，是甜的，所以我都吃。

这是当天的Chef Special，一小块的牛肉配各种各样的蘑菇还有truffle弄成的酱汁。牛肉煮得很软很嫩。好吃！

还有两、三道菜，我没拍照片。有一碟鱼，一碟garlic bread，还有一碟risotto。此外，我们每人还有一杯complementary的开胃酒。这一餐总共才花了70欧元。如果不是我们傻傻的点了4瓶2.50欧元的高级矿泉水，这一餐才60欧元。

在Gedre住宿Logis La Breche de Roland所享用的晚餐，无疑是我们欧洲游里，最美味的一餐。因此，要是我不为它做任何介绍，仿佛有点说不过去。

我们离队以后，都是自驾游。离开Zaragoza，我们不小心被GPS点错了路，走了特别弯曲的路，原本短短的路程，变成了一天的路程。尤其姐姐最压力，在山里的路真的不是普通的弯，而我们又碰巧遇见下雨天，雾异常的浓。驾车很吃力。

我们在网上预订了Logis La Breche de Roland的三人房。Check in的那一刻，我们都很庆幸我们预订了房间。一路来到Gedre，其实路上的小镇都没有人。小镇风光看起来美丽，可是没有人气，说真的我们也不会冒冒然跑去住。

暖气充足的酒店房，让我们很不想离开房间。外头刮风下雨，我们很庆幸已经来到这么温暖的地方。法国的小镇多半没人气，我们也只好在酒店的餐厅用餐。饿了一整天，我们决定对自己好一点。

这样误打误撞，我们就在法国吃了第一餐米其林名单里餐厅。虚荣的我们，开心的不得了！

参观里的吧台。我们并没有在这里喝酒，可是晚餐店的红酒，就是从这里来的。

开胃菜，是餐厅complementary的蘑菇汤！外头冻得只有零下一度，这杯暖暖的蘑菇汤已足够让我们兴奋！蘑菇汤的浓度恰恰好，不会太浓，也不会淡淡的感觉上水分多过蘑菇。

天气太冷了，我们点了一小瓶的红酒。

Cutlets of local Black Bigorre pig with onion jam and creamed leeks，我很少觉得猪扒那么好吃！从此，我爱上了黑猪！猪扒煮得很嫩，marinate的功夫应该是做得很好，不需要配任何酱料，单吃就很美味。

Grilled mutton steak with creamed garlic, carrot purée and white bean，没有羊骚味，美味极了！羊扒和酱料配的很好，配着豆吃，更美味！

Salad of locally produced farmer's goat cheese wrapped in bacon, with Pyrenean mountain honey。这份是我的，看见餐点里的羊奶芝士总是让我受不起诱惑。太美味了！在西班牙和法国，学会了羊奶芝士配蜜糖，是最美味的组合！

Hot chocolate fondant with passion fruit sorbet。意外的，这是最最最好吃的甜品！那块小小的巧克力蛋糕里，装着热腾腾的可可，一口咬下，可可全融化在口里。现在想起来还是回味无穷！

就因为这家餐厅，我们从此对米其林餐厅名单有100％的信任。况且，这家在米其林里是没有星的哦，都已经让我们那么回味了！米其林名单里，有星的餐厅，都得提早三个月预订。我要是再去欧洲，我肯定会提早预订 :)

我不能隐居

在欧洲路上，处处可见这种屋子。远处的，独自一家。

我虽然偶尔喜欢安静，偶尔很自闭，谁都不想理睬，但我自问做不到这种隐居的境界。

我要是真的住在山上，我还是希望可以在一小时之内，可以抵达城市。我还是需要这种平衡，和方便。

我们爱煞The Pyrenees，不管是Gavarnie的雪山，还是Andorra的森林。那种优游自在，是城市人偶尔需要的心情调剂。

恕我孤陋寡闻，为这趟旅行做准备功课之前，我从来没听过这个国家。

这个小国家，夹在西班牙和法国之间，在The Pyrenees里,在延绵不断的山里。特别安宁，一走入这个国度，一切像是与世无争。只有看不尽的山景，走不完的山路，玩不尽的户外活动。难怪他们是世界上十大最开心的地方！这么与世无争，怎么会不开心？！

你可以说整个国家什么都没有，就是旅游景点，就是美丽的自然界，已经是非常的富有了。小小国家，竟然有300多家大大小小的酒店。城市不象任何国家的大城市那样繁荣，但也不致于落后。应有尽有，要认真瞎拼还是有的。而且，整个国家都是免税，烟酒、巧克力更是便宜到烂！

可能因为开心，这里的服务普遍上也比法国和西班牙好。服务员都比较有笑容，都比较亲切。不象法国的，总是一副欠他几百万的嘴脸！

我们从法国来到这里，爱煞他们的恰到好处悠闲，没比亚洲的繁忙，也没象法国那样太懒惰，爱煞这里的风景，马上决定再住一晚。在这里浪费时间，没事干就走来走去，看看山，看看树，游游泳⋯⋯完美！

真的，我很想在这里长居哦！

我们研究了酒店里提供的资料，决定在世界自然遗产Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley这一带走走看看。

我们误打误撞，来到一个了望台，俯瞰Andorra的首都，也是我们酒店的所在，Andorra del Vella。

旅行前，你为自己定下个大蓝图，细节走一步看一步，可能途中你遇上有趣的地方，决定逗留；可能你不喜欢某个地方的风俗，因此决定提早离开。随心所欲。

不管是喜欢抑或是讨厌，安全回家，每个地方还是有她值得回味的价值。我肯定地说，每个地方肯定为你留下一些，或淡或浓，总有一些。

朋友也一样，有些一直留在身边，陪你又笑又哭；有些提早离场，留下了回忆。有些回忆被践踏过，有些回忆被珍藏。

我不知道我为你留下了什么，你留下的，肯定是珍藏。

惊魂法国游（三）——完结篇

话说我们在Lourdes和Saint-Betrand-de-Camminges都没有特别美好的经验，所以一直把希望锁定在目的地，Toulouse（图卢斯）。毕竟图卢斯是法国第四大的城市，应该不会这样糟糕吧！回到城市应该可以有多点人气，而且吃好睡好。

至少，当初我们这样期盼着。

可是，事情总不能这样顺利。我们原本想住下的B&B，让我们在图卢斯受了第一打击！B&B竟然没有开门做生意！最大的打击不是他不开门，而是明明里面有人，开着灯，还有人走路的声音，不管我们再怎么努力的敲门，他们就是不开门！！！！

这下可好了，我们上车赶忙翻书找酒店，后来决定了一间，就开车前往目的地。怎么知道，当GPS说目的地在10公里以外的时候，我们都傻了。可是已经走了一半，就继续走吧。看了酒店，不怎么样。而且大老远，就不想住了。

从酒店出来，我们在麦当劳上网，很努力的找酒店。后来，决定相信一些比较认识的老牌子，我们到Ibis Hotel去。

几经困难，我们终于都住进了一间比较像样的酒店。这样盲头苍蝇闯来闯去，一个下午就没了。安顿好以后，都已经是晚餐时间了。

太阳下山以后，我们才把自己住的地方看清楚。我们就住在火车总站旁，天一黑，路上的人一半看起来像流氓，另一半看起来像混混。我们原本想走到市区去吃晚餐的念头都打消了，只在酒店对面随便用餐。哪里知道，那却是我们两个星期里最难吃的一餐！我们点了自认很安全的食物，Lasagne和Toulouse Sausage，不知道怎么搞的，可以难吃到这种地步！

就这样，我们原本想在图卢斯逗留两晚的计划就改变了。市镇过的不好，小镇人影都没有，城市也不见的好到哪里去，还是上山吧！

隔天睡醒，我们把东西整理好，决定在运河边走走，到市中心看看。

说起这条运河就厉害了！如果不是这条运河，我想我们也不会来这里。在旅游书里看见运河真是漂亮。来到这里，才发现运河还有阵阵的臭味～～～（你看，法国的旅游业很成功！）这又马上让我联想到桂林的灵渠！同样是一条运河把我们骗去的。我下定决心拍一张Canal du Midi的照片，把你们骗去！

白天把图卢斯看好，其实她没有我前一晚对她的印象那么差。图卢斯还有另一个称号，叫玫瑰城市。如其名的，建筑物都是红色的砖，太阳照射的时候，是美丽的景色。而且，虽是法国第四大城市，这里没有高楼，都是红色的建筑物，看了悠闲舒服。

图卢斯有桂林的影子。景点是不多，也不见得很值得去。但是，她的悠闲很容易感染你，就这样在城市里荡来荡去，也不需要做什么。累了做下来喝咖啡，看看报纸，看看路人⋯⋯Sight seeing 就免了。

到了这个时候，我已经开始对教堂麻木了⋯⋯姐姐说，这是审美疲劳。

我们决定在离开法国之前，坐在大太阳底下用餐。享受温暖的阳光。而这家餐厅也为我们证实了，图卢斯的食物并不难吃的，图卢斯著名的香肠也是好吃的。没有很美好的开始，这也算是美好的句点了。

惊魂法国游（二）

发生在Saint-Betrand-de-Camminges。

根据姐姐的功课搜查，这是法国最美丽的小镇之一。法国有个organization，Les Plus Beaux Villages de France,专选法国最美丽的小镇，希望将之发扬光大。姐姐说，既然来到法国怎么样也应该选个来看。所以，选了这个，因为从Lourdes到Toulouse，路过这个小镇，所以我们方便的拐一个弯进去看个究竟。

在停车场，我们看见一些游客在吃着自己带来的便当，在椅子上晒太阳。把车子停好，我们就进去探个究竟。也想找一家餐厅，解决肚子饿的问题。可是，走进小镇之后，心又再暗叫不妙。别说餐厅，人影都没有一个。如果不是中午太阳高高挂的时刻，这个小镇还挺恐怖一下。

我顿时想起了黄姚古镇！怕怕！

还好，后来让我们碰见小镇里唯一开店的可丽饼餐厅。开门，里面坐满了人。也难怪，整个小镇也只有她开店。多的她，我在法国立下的毒誓就派不上了。我在法国发誓吃不到可丽饼我不离开法国！

后来回家了，再看看法国最美丽小镇的筛选条件。原来，小镇的定义是人口不可超过2000人。还有，最美丽小镇，一定要有历史或科学或文化保留地。我的天！2000人⋯⋯

惊魂法国游（一）

我们在Gavarnie和Pic du Midi用的时间，出奇的比预料中短。其实原因也很简单，咖啡馆不开，酒店不开，连上雪山的缆车都不开！！！！所以，我们比预料中早离开雪山，到Lourdes去。

其实我们的目的地并不是Lourdes，而是Toulouse。只是，路途遥远才把它当作是个转站。

抵达Lourdes，我们第一任务当然就是找地方落脚。从姐姐带来的地址，找到了一条有好多酒店的街道，泊了车就开始找酒店。走进第一间看起来还可以的，柜台阿伯竟然说：“We're closed”。长那么大，我还是第一次听说酒店关门。走出酒店大门，我们发现一个很可怕的现象，对面街的酒店，超过一半是没有开门的！！

后来走进好几间，还没有问价钱就走出来。不是关门，而是酒店柜台看起来很像医院。柜台旁还有很多轮椅。看到我们(*_*)。还有一间，自动门一开，竟然是圣母玛利亚的肖像，吓到我～

我们走来走去，暗暗叫苦！我们甚至讨论不如直奔目的地。只是很担心法国人的惰性，万一到目的地太迟了，没有地方落脚，怎么办？左右为难。

还好，姐姐的朋友眼睛够亮，看见后街有间看起来很新的酒店。我们决定试一试。还好，是一件很像样的酒店，很正常的房间，价格又便宜，就住下了。

晚餐以后，我们决定到教堂看看。Lourdes就是闻名于这间教堂，Our Lady of Lourdes。听说，又是看见圣迹的一个地方。而且，据说这间教堂有healing power，难怪到处都是轮椅。

我们竟然遇见祭拜的时候。教徒全都握着蜡烛，绕着教堂走一圈，还扛着肖像呢！可是，不知怎么样呢，我总对这种仪式觉得有点毛毛的。我们只是静静地在一旁看，然后就离开了。
（各位天主教的朋友，请不要在意。本小姐自小胆小国人，不管什么宗教的仪式，都觉得毛毛的。不能解释。）

经过一晚的惊魂，我们决定隔天再去看看教堂白天的模样，就直奔Toulouse。

心知道这教堂是天主教堂的圣地，可是，我还是得说，我还是比较喜欢巴塞罗那的教堂。每一间都比这里的更壮观，更神圣。这间看起来太新，没有时代感。（你看，游客最自私，总是希望每个地方保持当初的外貌和淳朴，“阻止”别人的发展）

就这样，我们离开了Lourdes。

在Cirque de Gavarnie耗了一整个早上之后，我们继续上路，到第二个目的地，Pic du Midi。我们在前一晚计划的时候，一直想乘坐缆车上顶看雪山，一定非常壮观。殊不知，一路往上，缆车一辆都没看见！

The Pyrenees这一带，冬季是旺季，因为冬季下雪除了雪山美景吸引之外，滑雪爱好者也是涌着进来。做功课的时候，我们看见别人上载的照片，不是夏季hiking，就是冬季滑雪。没想到，正因为我们秋季非旺季，好多好多酒店、咖啡座、连缆车！都不开门做生意！！！

不过，还好的就是公路做得很好，我们驾车可一路加到靠近山顶。上过那么多次雪山，还是第一次驾车上。

没有开店！

拍完以后，一阵大风把云朵吹来，突然就什么都看不见了。在山上，天气是这么变幻莫测！

在最初的计划里，我们从来没说要到这的地方。有一天，在书店里胡乱翻Lonely Planet Spain，发现The Pyrenees这个地方。马上就决定，我想要到这个地方。The Pyrenees就是西班牙和法国之间，天然山脉边界。The Pyrenees被分为Spanish Pyrenees和France Pyrenees。而Andorra呢，就是夹在这两个国家之间，躲在The Pyrenees山脉里的一个小小国家。

原本我们没想要租车，只想从巴塞罗那乘巴士到Spain Pyrenees。可是后来姐姐发现原来租车比搭火车便宜很多，而且她找到法国边界的，比西班牙边界得更漂亮，所以，我们就决定再回到雪山上。

整个Pyrenees有无数个国家公园，每个国家公园有无数个景点，要是真要好好地走，在那里住一个星期可能都不够。我们只住了一夜，只能重点观光。去了两个，第一就是Cirque de Gavarnie。

一大清早，从酒店走出来，看见一片朦朦胧胧的山景。

我们也算是幸运的。我们去的是秋天，只想着看一山秋色已经很开心。没想到抵达的那一天，下了一场雨（冷到我半条命，check in酒店的那一晚，我握着暖气良久），隔天睡醒，山顶上铺了一层薄薄的雪，山脚还是一山秋色。太美丽！

看到第一片秋色，已经很开心。

走到Gavarnie Fall跟前，发现到雪山脚下原来有一家酒店，很兴奋想在那里喝一杯热咖啡。失望的，酒店没开。大概是秋季不是旺季。

因为下了一场雪，什么瀑布也没了。要雪还是要瀑布？我要雪。

看到这个秋色，我们像山芭佬一样兴奋莫名。

太阳越来越猛，雪山上的雪开始融化，蒸发成云。

在如此的美景，再加上整座山也没什么人，差不多给我们包完了，我们决定给我们租回来的车拍一张靓相。

Other Bits of Zaragoza

A big bulk of my Zaragoza pictures went to Basilica de Nuestro Senora del Pilar, others went to bits and pieces of Zaragoza. To be very honest, I didn't even know how Zaragoza city looked like. We stayed just next to the old town of Zaragoza, where all the historical sites are, our activities only concentrated in that area, none of the others.

Early in the morning, before we started any sight seeing, we went to the river, to enjoy the sunrise.

After that, we paid visit to one of the most important sights in Zaragoza, Aljaferia. It was an Islamic palace back in the medieval time, when Zaragoza was under Arab. In present day, Aljaferia is the Parliament of Aragon. Aragon is the province where Zaragoza is. The entrance was 3Euro, and the audio guide was 2Euro. If you happened to plan a trip to Aljaferia, please do not rent the audio guide, it was one of the worst 2 Euro we ever spent in the trip.

After the visit to Aljaferia, we walked into the local fresh market. Not planning to cook anything fancy, we only got our daily fiber, fruits~

After lunch, I really envy the European lifestyle. The shops were all closed, from 2pm onwards, until they decided to open again in the evening, most probably around 5pm. After 2pm, the entire town looked so empty.

One thing we noticed during our stay was, there were more elderly in Zaragoza than in Barcelona, much more. Guess it's a good place for retirement, Ying & I would like to check out the property market :P

Montserrat是我们跟团的最后一个景点。隔一天，我们中午开始离队，到Zaragoza去。Basilica de Nuestro Senora del Pilar并不是我们在这个城市观光的唯一景点。可是，这个教堂的地理位置实在太好，我们姐妹俩拍照拍到不亦乐乎！

教堂很美，虽然不能媲美巴塞罗那我们所观光的那三间，可是，独特的回教因素，使这间教堂充满吸引力。Zaragoza在古时候曾经被阿拉伯占领，后来被罗马占领，因此建筑物和巴塞罗的那有点不同。

不只如此，她的左侧被日出的太阳照着，右侧面向夕阳。中午时分，太阳正好在顶端。前面还是一条河，天暗时分拍倒影。你说，怎么能放过？

而且，付Euro3可乘搭电梯到最顶端观望这个城市的风景。真是不亦乐乎！

Montserrat, The Black Madonna

Montserrat的名字，是serrated mountain的意思，是天主教堂重要圣地之一。听说曾经在此有过圣迹。因此每年好多虔诚的教徒都前来朝拜。在山上还有宿舍，教徒还可以上来短期出家。

不过，像我这样的游客还是很多的。不是上来朝拜，只是上来观光。这座山，除了有这间重要的教堂，也是一个national park。好多运动爱好者选择hiking或骑脚踏车上山。我们看起来吃力，他们好像还是挺享受的。

如果不想这么辛苦，你还是可以乘搭火车上山。火车的时间表和票价可在此页寻到。

用完午餐，我们在观景台观赏这座山的全景。往往在这种时候，手上的相机，还有我三脚猫的功夫，怎么拍，还是不像眼睛看得漂亮。

看到那长长的轨道吗？可从巴塞罗那一路搭来。

这个教堂里，富丽堂皇，非常庄严。进入教堂，不用别人警告，你也会自然而然降低声量。教堂里的肖像，他们称为The Black Madonna。虔诚的教徒都会去排队，摸一摸，拜一拜。我们时间紧逼，当然没有排队。队伍可长了，我看至少得排上半个小时吧。

I drink alcohol, but I never study what is best. I drink whatever is served, and I tell you whether I like it or not. That simple. I've never heard of Jean Leon before this trip, but now I know. (Obviously I'm not going to tell you the story here, please read from the link yourself)

I could only come back with one conclusion, the wine was good! And, expensive too! This brand was selected to be served in one of the US President Inauguration.

The scenery from this vineyard wasn't as good as the one I went in Napa Valley, California. But one good thing about this, they allowed us to pluck the grapes! And eat them :) Very nice!

The 3rd day of the trip was probably a wonderful day for shopaholic, but not us. It wasn't a bad day, but it wasn't a day we were eagerly looking forward too.

In the morning, the important people were supposed to attend meeting.

You could probably tell by now, that I like my window view. It was a good way to start a day :)

People like me wandered around while waiting for them to finish the meeting. So we walked to the beach nearby, the one you see from my window.

After enjoying sea breeze, and some naked people swimming, we insisted to try a cuppa in local cafe. We had a nice cup of coffee in a small humble cafe ran by this nice uncle. He understands limited English, so I ordered our coffee with some sign language. After that, I asked if I could take a photo of him, he asked if he needs to strip for me! :P

After lunch, the organizer decided to have a group photo in front of Museum of Contemporary Art of Catalunya at Montjuic. So we went uphill to Montjuic again.

And this time, I grabbed a chance to take a proper photo of this museum.

After the photo session, the tour brought us to La Roca Village. It is where all the shopaholic dream comes true. All the branded outlets were there. Some were actually very cheap. But the few of us came back empty handed, not our cup of tea. Instead, we spotted a humming bird!

After a good shopping, we had fine dining experience in a castle! The restaurant was called Restaurant Can Cortada. And I just found out that it was listed in Michelin too! But it was a shame that the food were prepared for a good 9 tour buses of us! The food was ok, but I bet it would be far better if they weren't prepared for tour groups.

It was my first time to be in a castle, not just visiting, but dining. The setting of the restaurant was pretty neat. During the dinner, we were entertained by Spanish traditional songs too! All of us got up to dance with them. It was quite an experience to me!

说起这间教堂可好笑了。

第二天的行程，游完高迪的重点旅游景点以后，导游（又）把我们放在 La Rambla 附近。说可带我们到fresh market(不就是巴刹咯)，和一间教堂。那巴刹在我们第一天乱乱走的时候，已经去过，所以没有兴趣。我们问导游教堂在哪里，我们自己去，就开始乱乱走。其实，到今时今日，我们还不知道是不是这间教堂。最神奇的是，回到房间研究地图良久，都不知道究竟这教堂叫什么名堂。我做功课之时，也从来没看见。

可是，管他呢？已经一点都不重要。因为，这间无意间找到的教堂，让我们同时爱上它的庄严。伤心的是，教堂正在辅修中⋯⋯高高的架子，是避不开的了。

免付费。如果各位到巴塞罗那，不妨去看看。旅游书是不介绍，但是我们所去的教堂，这家算是前三名最美丽最庄严的。值得走一趟。

Park Guell

Park Guell (根据 Catalan念为wey)，也是高迪的杰作之一。Eusebi Guell，高迪的朋友游览了英国之后，得到启发想要建一个housing site，于是便找高迪帮忙。可当时高迪实在太忙，于是只答应帮忙建筑housing site的common area。

可是，这个工程并不成功。建了两间屋子，都无人问津。后来高迪买下了其中一间，现在那间屋子也成为了高迪的博物馆。公园的入门是免费的，高迪的博物馆就得付费。

在网上的介绍都没写，但姐姐读的书说，Guell建筑这个地方的初衷，是把它作为工人宿舍。可是，工人还得自己出钱出力把工程完成！这么坏的老板，抵他死，工程不成功。

在那里耐心等候了很久，才等到没有人的时候。

在那里坐着五彩缤纷的石椅享受日光浴。

The magnificent Sagrada Familia!

It is the icon for Barcelona, a MUST GO in Barcelona if you ever stepped foot in Barcelona.

The construction of Sagrada Familia commenced since year 1882. Antoni Gaudi, the designer and architect of this icon followed the construction through his death in year 1926. Till date, the construction is still ongoing. You can never get a perfect picture without any obstruction, so forget it!

They target to finish the construction at year 2026, to celebrate 100th anniversary of Gaudi's life. Maybe I should visit Barcelona again in year 2026 to have a good look of the finished project :)

行程的第二天，都是巴塞罗那的重点旅游。但是由于随团，重点旅游虽然非常吸引，我们都比较走马看花。

Me Hotel 房间看日出，开始美好的一天 :)

沿途当地导游为我们一一解释，路过好多建筑，都只能透过车窗拍摄。这张不例外，不过喜欢太阳的位置，所以不介意车窗朦朦胧胧的一片。

第二天始于Mont Juic。如果你对1992年巴塞罗那奥林匹克运动会有印象的话，一定忘不了巴塞罗那城市一景。1992年，我开始认识奥运。对开幕典礼选手远射圣火点燃火炬那一幕，至今念念不忘，仍然认为那是史上奥运开幕典礼，最震撼的一幕。当年奥运，就在Mont Juic举行。所以参观此地，让我和姐姐很兴奋！

Mont Juic 不只是奥运的场地，在最顶端处是一座堡垒。站在该处，可观望整个巴塞罗那城市。

巴塞罗那的第一印象

千山万水的Spain-France-Andorra旅程已经走完。虽然这些并非我心目中最最最最最最喜欢的地方（Andorra除外)，可它们也总有它们的可爱之处，一路走完，语言不通闹出的笑话成为美丽的回忆。

就是绕着西班牙北部，还有法国南部。还有，Andorra就是这两个国家之间夹着的小国家。稍后详细介绍。

回来的第一天，我迫不及待想回味旅途中所拍下的照片。还没有到西班牙之前，我把西班牙想像的热情奔放。到了才发现并不这么一回事，但他们也并非冷漠，只是我把她想像得太多。

First Baked Pasta

自从搬来这新家以后，有个烘炉，我们总对好多食物跃跃欲试。一开始毓豪就想要吃baked pasta。但我一口推说：“我不会！”，到现在都一直没做过。

可是可是，你看我连pizza都做出来了，想想pasta怎么可能难得了我呢？而且，人怎么可能就这样一辈子说不会，就不做？我是妈妈的女儿，怎么可以这样没用？就像朋友骂的那样，有什么事情是生下来就会？

就这样，做了！

我用的培根稍微咸了一点，再加上芝士，是有点点咸。还好放了好多豆，味道比较平衡一些些。

虽然没象我的pizza那样好吃，以第一次来说，还是可以过关的。且做法简单，又是一个容易美味的晚餐。

做法如下

Ingredients:

Pasta of your choice (penne, farfalle, macaroni etc)
Green peas
Bacon (You can have any ingredients of your choice, seriously. Mushrooms, tomato, minced meat, sausages, asparagus etc.)
Mixture of cheese (mozarella and parmesan)
Cream
Butter
Herbs

Methods:

Cook the pasta for 10 mins.
Preheat the oven to about 180 degree Celsius.
At the same time, cut the bacon and fry them with a little of butter.
At the last minute of cooking the pasta, throw in the green peas for about 1 minutes to boil.
Drain the water out of pasta and green peas.
Mix the cooked pasta, peas, bacon into a pot.
Stir in some butter, cream and herbs & mix them well.
Pour this mixture into a casserole (or in my case, aluminum foil in an oven friendly pan).
Lay a generous portion of cheese (both mozzarella and parmesan) on the pasta.
Bake them for good 20-25 minutes or until the cheese turn golden brown.
Dress the baked pasta with herbs.
Serve!

Yummylicious! I'm going to cook this more often :)

Therapy

Mood has been a little up and down, blame the work, blame the hormone.

I have some therapy of my own. Retail therapy is too expensive, I try not to go down to this path. Physical activities, cooking, and food seem to be my next best options.

I had a jog after reaching home. I know it was a bit too late to start a jog, but I didn't care, I knew I need it. After some jogs and walks, I came home wanting to eat half boiled egg. It's not the best meal one could have late at night, but that's what I had. Eggs, milk, cookies and chips.

I insisted to cook myself a carbonara dinner tonight even though it's late. Results, I'm still full the minute I'm writing this post.

But effectiveness of the therapy? Pass.

Squirt!

Posted a picture of Squirt on FB with my mobile last weekend, and my colleagues were curious what exactly was it.

Well, some said it looks like alien.

Wrong!

It's a turtle!! The cute little turtle from Finding Nemo! Please meet Squirt, my new toy.

My obsession for sea turtle started after coming back from Sipadan Island, when I've done swimming with turtles everyday during the trip. I swore I want to get a turtle toy, but only specifically Squirt from Finding Nemo.

No kidding, I was crazily looking for one in Singapore, but no luck. During the process, Yee Hau brought the plastic Squirt back from his home to ease my "obsessions". Then, when I was desperate enough, Yee Hau was kind enough to help me to look for it on Disney online store. Still no luck, he offered me to order online, as my gift =)

So, I managed to find one online, ordered, but to my horror, they don't do international shipping!!!!! So, I asked for Hui Nee's help. So kind of her and Ah Beng, they helped me to bring this new friend back :)

Perhaps this view will help you to know this is a turtle.

除却小时候，恩想当猫，我们真把他当只猫来养之外，我从来都不嗜猫。

可是，这世界是奇妙的。你越是不喜欢的事情，越是会转个弯来找你。不过是迟早的问题。

而我呢，不喜欢猫，偏偏小时候养个猫弟弟。中学时代，朋友们说我像猫，而我也干脆把ICQ的名字取了个meow。近几年，租下的组屋区，都是猫的天地。结果，我就渐渐不讨厌猫。可我还是不喜欢它们。

而我，多年来还是一副猫样。

就是这么奇妙，你越不喜欢，越是害怕的，总会拐一个弯，出现在你身边。

My First Pizza... A Success!

I've been thinking about making a pizza for some time.

So, I couldn't wait anymore and dragged Yee Hau to get pizza ingredients yesterday to prepare for today's pizza day!

So, making a pizza for the first time is kind of stressful for me. I want a thin crust crispy pizza! I visited multiple websites and blogs for references, and called up my mom for more personalized instructions. (Kia Hooi told me she did in fact remember my mom's homemade frozen pizza, back then when we were in secondary school)

After multiple googles, I down selected to one on simplerecipes.com and Jamie Oliver. Do refer to these sites for making a good pizza dough.

My pizza journey started last night, when I was making some pizza notes! Since most of the websites recipes are calling for 2 or more pizzas, I have to recalculate the amount of my pizza.

Ingredients for dough (for two persons):

3/4 cups of warm water
2 1/8 teaspoon of dry yeast
1 3/4 cup of bread flour
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of sugar

Steps:

Sieve the flour on a clean working surface
Mix the dry yeast, sugar, salt, olive oil into water and leave for a few minutes.
Create a well in the flour.
Pour the mixture into the well.
Use a fork to bring the flour in gradually.
When all flour comes together, knead the dough until the dough feels springy.
Place the dough into a large bowl and cover it with damp cloth.
Wait for 1-2hour, for the dough to double its size.

The Toppings

You can use anything for your toppings. I made a big pizza with portobello mushroom, polish sausages, cherry tomato, cheddar & parmesan cheese and a small pizza with just mozzarella cheese.

When the dough is ready, knead the dough (Jamie Oliver called it knocking-out-the-air). And they are ready to use.
Preheat the oven to 200 degree Celcius.
Laid the dough thin flat on the flour dusted pizza pan, and poke them with a fork. (My mom said this helps!)
Then, spread tomato puree thinly on the surface (my mom said it's important to keep it thinly spread for not wetting the dough too much) and arrange the toppings you've prepared.
Bake the pizza at 200 degree celcius for 15-18 minutes.
Dress the pizzas with fresh basil leaves or arrowhead.
Serve

My Margherita Pizza, failed in looks but still delicious. I think I baked this for a little too long.

Well, all in all, I have to say I'm really proud of myself (ah-hem). My first pizza attempt was successful. The man was happy and satisfied with the thin crust crispy pizza! And I rewarded myself with a (few) glass of red wine after meal. Still drinking at this moment while I'm writing this :)

Improved Version of Oven Baked Chicken

Well, I did exactly the same steps as my previous oven baked chicken on Wednesday, except, after coating the chicken drumstick with salt, pepper and rosemary, I wrapped the chicken drumstick with bacon. (Reduce the amount of salt because bacon is normally salty)

This was even better!

Oven Baked Chicken with Mixed Vegetables

My itchy hands couldn't resist to cook myself a meal again.

I think oven is one of the most important creation! The preparation time was so short (~15mins), I could have a cup of tea and watched "Two and a Half Men" while waiting for the dinner to cook. Unfortunately for chicken, it takes a little while longer to cook (~45mins).

The mixed vegetables were laid around the chicken drumstick to suck all the yummylicious juice from chicken. Put them into the oven about 15mins after the chicken was baked. And don't forget to flip the chicken around to ensure it's cooked evenly.

Ingredients (You can have more, I am just having lesser for dinner):
1 chicken drumstick
1 potato
1 carrot
1 tomato

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 200 degree Celcius while preparing the ingredients.
Coat the chicken drumstick evenly with olive oil, garlic salt, ground pepper and rosemary. Put this aside while preparing the vegetables.
Wash and dice the vegetables.
Toss the potato and carrot with olive oil, garlic salt, ground pepper and mixed herbs. Put them aside. Tomato could be left just as it is.
Bake the chicken drumstick. Set timer to 15mins.
Place the mixed vegetables around the chicken drumstick after 15mins and continue to bake.
Flip the chicken drumstick every now and then for another 30mins (Get a glass of wine and enjoy yourself before dinner *wink*)
Serve :)

每次回家，都是一味地吃。好像前世没得吃，今世来讨饭的样子。在我的字典里，美食就是属于妈妈的。

今次回家，妈妈煮了我很久没吃的nasi lemak，乐得我！！

还有洋姨丈说的这道“家传秘方”的炸肉圆。姨丈爱煞这肉圆，常常告诉外婆妈妈阿姨们，这道菜不可外传。呵呵！

人家说慈母多败儿不是没有道理。妈妈一手好厨艺，我只会把所有食材扔进锅里。随随便便吃一顿不会毒死人的一餐即可。哈哈哈。

能回家吃饭真幸福。每次从新加坡回家，我就想到很久以前电视上的一个香米的广告：“返屋企食饭！”

我对风筝的回忆

我对风筝的回忆，就是大表哥，还有二姑在Kampong Telok的家。

我的童年在怡保，Ipoh Garden的大马路旁。户外活动一直很受限制，大部分的活动都在后巷。就连骑摩托车的小贩，都是在后巷的。家庭主妇谈天说地，也在后巷。所以，我六岁以前的回忆，都围绕在那热热闹闹的后巷。除了，当我们探访二姑。

Kampong Telok那间屋子，就是我童年回忆唯一的乡下回忆。我在那里学会抓各式各样的昆虫、捉蜘蛛来打架、玩表哥自制的枪、玩mamasak真的切起“菜”来，还有放风筝。

以前的风筝哪有象现在一样花花绿绿的。以前表哥弄风筝，都是就地取材，简简单单弄个传统的风筝便是。这样，就很心满意足了。

我也记不起我是怎么把风筝飞上天。大概，我从来没有真正成功过。都是表哥堂哥放上去了，把线交给我保管就是。至于我保管的当儿，风筝有没有断了飞了，我就记不起来了。

对于Kite Festival，我已经想去两年了。好像都碰上下雨天，就没去成。而今年，一去去了两天（报仇？）。一天是拍拖拍照去，另一天是带美国来的的同事去走走看看。去看看小孩子们放风筝的奇模怪样，去回忆回忆我的童年。

I missed lemang so much! I haven't had one for years...

Since it's Raya eve, Ying Ying bought all these Raya goodies on her way back from work, lemang and ketupat. The serunding that goes with lemang is so delicious, we can have it on its own.

I miss Pasar Ramadan, where we can find the Malay aunties bakar-ing the lemang, selling rendang and serunding. I can't find any Pasar Ramadan in Singapore, I don't even know where do all the Malays bought the lemang.

We continued our lemang craze this morning with lemang bakar. Mom pan fried the leftover lemang from last night on non stick pan. Yum! Delicious!!!

Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya! Have a pleasant holiday!

Miraku at G Hotel

在很惊险的两周之内，我终于买到了新加坡-槟城的来回机票。还在刚刚过的周四，我只有回家的机票，却没有机票飞回新加坡。费了很多心思，还有很多back up plan，守得云开见月明，终于让我盼到Silk Air的wait list confirmation。喜悦的心情无法形容！:)

回家前一天，工作忙，看张学友看得痴痴疯疯，甚至回家前的那一刻还在公司。回到槟城简直是累死人。不过，我的姐姐和弟弟，在我没有选择之下，已经买了Cars 2的戏票。

由于我早餐之后就没有任何事物下肚子，到Gurney时，我已经饿得要晕死了。我们要快要好吃，就选了G Hotel的Miraku，我们的最爱！

弟弟每一次来，都要“thong”一碟三文鱼刺身。鱼很新鲜，好吃得很！

烤牛肉，生熟度刚刚好，不太硬不太生。好吃！

实不相瞒，Miraku并不是便宜的地方。我们三个人这样随便叫，也要一百块。不过，如果我将价钱convert去新币，我未必能找到一家一样的素质和环境的日本餐。所以，还是值得的。

我九月还会再吃一次哦！因为答应了慧妮要请她，她选了这家。呵呵！

It's been some time since I last had minestrone I cooked myself.

I wasn't hungry when I off work today because I had a curry puff from my boss. So, I decided to cook myself a dinner. My stomach could wait.

To enable Yee Hau to eat some after he off work (late), I cooked something soupy.

Home cooked is always nice.

I am not used to the fact that I don't have an external flash (I had it when I use Olympus) and I realized how the close up +4 filter distorts the image at the corners of my photos... sigh...

为我的Olympus E510感到不足已经有好一段时间，但是挨着口袋不是很多钱，总是思前想后⋯⋯想了很久以下，终于狠下心，上周日败了一架Nikon D7000回家。

败家之前，我用了几个星期说服自己。总总理由，比如：可以和毓豪共用镜头、有更好的quality、下一趟旅行快到了。然后，我跟自己说，好了，只要问到一家最便宜的就可以买。就这样，败了！！！

还没有那年底花红，就先花钱。

I was searching up and down for the plush toy of Squirt from Finding Nemo. But, no luck. So while I'm still aza aza looking for it, Yee Hau brought this from home.

Bacon, Mushroom & Zuccini Pasta

Ever since I've moved further away from work place, I don't cook as often as I used to.

But every now and then, I find some excuse to come back to cook something for myself. It's been a while since I cook pasta. This bacon, mushroom and zuccini pasta wasn't as good as I thought. The bacon I got from NTUC Fairprice were slightly too salty. Good thing I've finished them. Say no to that bacon!

Still, a cup of chamomile tea, good for relaxing my mind after a day of work =)

My Pirated Version Bruschetta

People say you pick up habits of your other half eventually.

For my case, it can be true, sometimes.

Yee Hau has some craze for baked/grilled tomatoes ever since we had big brekky at Bratwurst Cafe in Plaza Singapura. I didn't fancy it at first, but as I started to bake it for him, I started to like this too.

With the much anticipated excitement ahead (Eason's concert in Kuala Lumpur) this weekend, I have to start clearing some food in fridge. I decided to make a sandwich/pirated bruschetta with whatever I have.

I seasoned the tomato with pepper, baked them alongside with bacon, to let the oil and fragrant from the bacon to flow to the tomatoes. And then, I pan fried button mushroom with butter. At the last 3 minutes, I threw the bread into the oven.

Tadaa!~ And I seasoned with some herbs and cheese before served.

To my surprise, the tomato ones are better than the mushroom one =)

Go with a cup of chamomile tea, yummy! I'm happy that I'm back to kitchen again.

Darth Vader

Khoo Siblings have always been huge fans of Star Wars. And we think Darth Vader is the coolest villain of all!

Since it's a lazy Sunday, and I've been telling myself to pick up my camera again for fun things. I decided to take some photos of this new addition Darth Vader of mine. It's a Bobble Head Darth Vader from Ah Beng when I visited San Francisco. How nice!

It's been 3 months since I had this. I moved from Commonwealth to current flat. I've went to Sipadan Island. Now, I finally picked up my camera again :)

天堂般的地方

刚刚从天堂回来一周，至今看看照片，还是很回味那清澈见底的海洋，那天然的游泳池，那悠闲的下午，凉凉的海风，到处可见的海洋生物。还有，那悠然的海龟。

从Semporna乘船到Mabul途中。被海风猛打在脸上的感觉真好。

我们五天四夜住的Sipadan Water Village的后面，就是refugee camp。这些小孩，大概就是那里的居民。抵达SWV的第一天，有个小孩向我们展示他的战利品。

他们每天中午都出现，向新来的游客要钱。

右边那位，还是全裸的。

在那里的生活很健康。我们每天早睡早起，每天运动量都特高（游泳，潜水，浮潜）。还每天晒太阳摄取维他命D，健康的要命。一个假期回来，觉得特别refreshing。

很多人问我，Sipadan和热浪哪个好玩。如果从海底生物的角度来看，当然是前者。这里的生物非常的rich，跳下水身边都是一群一群的大鱼小鱼。有时候，真觉得不小心跳入它们世界的堵车。哈哈哈！

在这里，也是我生平第一次，和海龟一起游泳。而且，是每天都和海龟一起游泳！以前在热浪，听说别人看见海龟，自己却没看见，羡慕得半死。在Sipadan，追随海龟变成我们每天必做的事。

可是，在Sipadan就没有长长的海滩让你散步晒太阳的。就是海滩输了一点点。不过，总的来说，这里，还是天堂！

三藩市里，到处可见海鸥。而且，海鸥都是见惯大场面的，一点都不怕人，在人群里游走。看见食物，还会向我们走近。在Palace of the Fine Arts野餐的时候，有只贪吃的海鸥一直向我们逼近，我们瞪它一眼，它停一下。你不看它，它又走来。很大胆。逼得我不得不讲点鸟话把它赶走。

即使如此，它们还是挺上镜的。

这只，它前世是赌神。

Good Days in Corvallis

It's spring in Corvallis when I arrived! But the weather didn't feel much like spring most of the time.

The day I arrived, the sky was so gloomy it actually reminded me of end of the day.

Most of the time I woke up with freezing temperature and I had to turn on the heater as soon as I got into my car. And most of the time I had to cover my head with the hood on my windbreaker to protect myself from the drizzling rain.

However, I was lucky to catch a few days of extremely good weather. And whenever possible, I brought my camera after work, to have a slow walk in Oregon State University or down town.

I like my alone time. I can walk aimlessly, I can think of things, I reflect, I daydream, I don't care.

And I walk my pace, which is, so slow nobody can "keep up".

The worst thing to be alone, is things that you've done in the past came back to you. Be it good or bad.

They are like shadows that haunt you. They're images in different part of the brain, they came out at the right time, to remind you of something.

So I chose, to let the memories hang in there. Be it good or bad.

They can serve me a lesson, that I might repeatedly need. Who knows?

Why I Love San Francisco

I listed San Francisco as my favourite place in Trip Advisor ever since my first visit there in year 2009, alongside with Penang and Lijiang.

I'm never a fan of big city, but this, seems to be an exemption.

I love the view of the steep streets.

I love the silly ride.

I love the buildings.

I love the scenery and how I can picnic wherever I want.

I love the way everybody seems so relax and the weather is forever beautiful.

I love Fisherman's Wharf.

And the BEST clam chowder!

And, I love her :)

I can't find a reason to dislike this lovely place.

Torn vs. Broken

What is the difference between broken apart and torn apart?

When you're broken, things just fall apart. They're everywhere, they're beyond mend. You hurt, if you touch them.

When you're torn, you try your best to hold things with the super glue in you. They're in tact. But you often wonder how long can the super glue works. Does it degrade over time? But you know it has to, because when it doesn't, you're not the only one who get hurt.

Torn is in the progress of broken. But you can prevent it from happening.

我在美国的日子

美国和此地，15个小时的时差。一直以来，我俩分开旅行，也从来没有通电。

但是，自从买了两个烂苹果，通话变成方便的事。只要酒店有wifi，就可以免费通电。不过当然，两周下来，我们只不过通了三次吧。谁奈何得了那15个小时的时差？不是他想睡觉，就是我睡着了。

以前，我总是不能明白，为什么那些“红毛”那么爱晒太阳？？

后来，2009年和姐姐在桂林旅行的时候，碰见连绵不断的春雨，像冬天一样的春天⋯⋯这种非人的天气持续了几天，我们也忧郁了几天。

突然有天，打开窗口，发现外面出大太阳。我们兴奋的到外头感受太阳的温暖，在大太阳底下吃早餐，日光浴，漫步，浪费光阴⋯⋯享受着从所谓有的领悟。

后来，我明白了。

自己也爱上了那种太阳带来的，无比温暖。

慧芳说，上海没什么好玩的。不过，旅伴最重要。

我想也是的。正常人也不会象我冬天跑到上海去。佳慧是我到上海的唯一理由。这个城市确实没什么，就是一个大城市。可是我们一起晃、一起冷、一起喝咖啡、一起喝啤酒、一起写明信片、一起睡觉⋯⋯在六天的时间，聊个没完没了。

我在宁波病了，感觉很对不起她。我竟没有好好体会她在宁波的生活。

她说我走了以后，她更想家。

下一个相依为命的旅行，会是几时呢？

What a Typical Tourist Does in Shanghai

Ok, let me list what a typical tourist will do in Shanghai.

1. 城隍庙
Entrance fee RMB10. It's just a small temple, visitors go in to really pray, unlike me, I was just there to look around.
Advice: Don't do it unless you really want to pray!

This guy traveled alone and so he's doing the typical "shiok sendiri" thingy. He was taking a picture of the jostick he just put on.

2. 南京路步行街
Every China city has a 步行街 and I always like it. If you really like shopping, it's really a nice place.
Advice: Go.

3. 南翔馒头店

As I've mentioned earlier, this is no doubt very cheap. 20 Xiao Long Bao only costs you RMB20, but it doesn't worth any of my life time queue-ing for it.
Advice: If you don't have enough time touring Shanghai, skip this. If you really want to have it once in your life time, go there before 9am, before the crowd starts everyday.

4. 上海滩 The Bund

This is one of the most enjoyable tourist attractions in Shanghai. Do try to make some time to visit this place at different time of the day, it gives you different perspective of Shanghai in the morning and night. Due to energy saving concern, the lights were off at 11pm (winter). Please try to be there early.
Advice: MUST go! What else is more important than The Bund in Shanghai?

5. 豫园
Entrace fee: RMB30
Waste of my time! It was a private garden of someone whom I have no idea who. The private garden wasn't magnificent at all. RMB30 felt like robbery to me!
Advice: DON'T GO! I didn't even take any pictures inside this private garden, yes, that's how bad the place was. Just spend your time in 豫园商城 is good enough, you can do souvenir shopping in there.

6. Others
Other popular places in Shanghai which almost all the tourists will go are: 人民广场、新天地、徐家汇、正大广场（陆家嘴）. These places are for shopping. I didn't take any photos of these places.
Advice: Nothing to advice. You could try 人民公园 near 人民广场, not a big park, but much better than 豫园.

Well, I guess that will sum up what I think it's typical.

高速动车组

在上海宁波短短的6天，动车组是我的好朋友。我乘的亚航，是飞往杭州的。而我的计划却是在上海会佳慧，所以，从杭州的萧山机场，我得搭机场大巴到杭州城站（人民币20元），乘坐动车到上海。我很幸运的买到了高速动车，既是直达，不停途中的任何一个城市。杭州到上海虹桥站，169km，才花了45分钟，而且，价格便宜，才人民币82元。
（另一个选择，就是乘搭亚航提供的大巴。大巴在飞机抵达的一个小时后开车，车票多少钱我不太清楚，不过肯定比动车慢了很多，因为杭州到上海大概要三个小时）

这就是我人生第一次搭高速动车的车票，丢了。

到达上海虹桥站。

上海虹桥站，是我到过的中国火车站，最干净的一个。火车站不只干净，而且很大，有点象机场。

动车组，在我这趟旅行里，节省了我不少时间。再加上，中国的火车一直很准时，乘搭火车，怎么样都比搭大巴安心很多。

有机会，在中国尝尝搭动车吧！

上海滩

外滩，是我在上海最享受的地方。一边是英殖民时代的旧建筑，对岸是新时代的新建筑。早上有早上的风光，夜晚有晚上的妩媚。

我没有带三脚架，冷冷的夜晚，拎着相机，手冰冰，真的是“为艺术牺牲”。

这个钟楼，唱着的是“东方红”。每一刻唱一次，由短到长。

Shanghai · Starbucks

You can't imagine, I've had 6 days of Starbucks during my entire Shanghai & Ningbo trip.

It was freezing cold on certain days, I just need something to warm my frozen hands. During the last two days in Ningbo, I just need some black coffee to stop my diarrhea, and have some breaks to catch up with my travel diary. And I finished writing them in Starbucks!

We decided to have a western breakfast on Christmas day in Shanghai, 豫园

We had a lot so that we can both get the Christmas souvenir.

I didn't get the chance...

Most of the days, we had more than one cup of coffee each day. I have to say, Shanghai coffee is one of the best coffee I tasted in China cities that I've visited. Ying & I made a statement that among the China cities that we've visited together, Guilin has the better coffee. But I have to change this to Shanghai now.

Most of the cafes in Shanghai (Other than Starbucks) brew illy coffee, and they are "kao" enough for our taste. And of course, they're not very cheap.

This, made my trip the most "un-China" trip I've ever had in China.

南翔馒头店……失望

南翔馒头店，卖着上海最有名的小笼包。每本上海旅游指南，都必定介绍。南翔馒头店，位于豫园商城里。而我们住的青年旅舍，离豫园不是太远。早上睡醒，走路到豫园南翔馒头店，才早上八点多钟。门口冷冷清清，我还以为我走错了。

两个女生出游，最不方便的地方，就是点菜不能点太多。可是，在南翔馒头店变成了好处。我们两人叫了一笼，一笼小笼包20个，价格很划算，才人民币20元。（看，我们点完菜，才8.53am）

上菜咯！

吃第一口，我问佳慧，为什么那么出名？这么出名的小笼包，我以为应该“皮薄馅靓”，没有！说真的，台北鼎泰丰的小笼包，肯定比这个好吃。

从九曲桥望向南翔小笼包，你看，门口已经在拍长龙了。如果，你真的觉得那么有名，非去不可，我劝你不要超过早上九点半。要不然，大老远来拍长龙，小笼包又不好吃，很气人的哦！

我从南翔馒头店出来的时候，我问佳慧“要不要告诉他们不值得排队哩？”

我们两个是在对南翔小笼包失望到透顶，走出来，看见对面的星巴克，二话不说，进去了。

为什么那么出名哩？真的是接受唔到咯……

I love Christmas! And this year, I'm spending it in Shanghai with Kia Hooi!

Beef & Mushrooms Sandwich

The Man was out to a Christmas party that I decided to give it a pass. I decided to just be an Otaku for the day. It's my last Sunday in Singapore in year 2010, I should get enough rest for full recovery from the flu last week, and get prepared for Shanghai trip for X'mas.

For dinner, a meal that I never skipped, I made myself a beef & mushrooms sandwich. There were some thin sliced beef left from our Shabu Shabu party last Friday. I marinated them with garlic salt, pepper & some paprika before I went out for a run.

After the run, approximately one hour later, I pan fried some button mushrooms with butter & lemon juice, toasted the bread, pan fried the marinated beef with butter, and at the same time, boil the broccoli. I finished the fillings with some Italian parsley & Mozzarella cheese, yum!

有朋友在“薇薇的旮旯”里留言，问我为什么那么久没有拍照？我真的是又惭愧，又高兴。惭愧，原来我变懒惰，是会有人发现的。高兴，是原来真的有人看的哦！

近来的懒惰虫，不只很少拍照，而且也变得比较少下厨。反正，很多我常在做的事，都很少做。经过一番检讨以后，我重拾我的“好习惯”。看书、写写东西、想想东西、拍拍这那、煮煮饭⋯⋯所以，我又回来了。

今天的晚餐，是我新创的。很cheesy，我喜欢，不过还是有待改善，所以，做法嘛，还是下次在分享。（很多芝士，家里的男人肯定不爱吃，这还真的是不则不扣的单人餐！）

咖啡坊 Coffee Lane

As mentioned in previous post, YY had got me a birthday present from Coffee Lane. Ever since the first visit, I would say, I found my new favourite coffee shop in Penang.

The taukeh of the coffee shop is definitely a coffee lover himself, believes in making best coffee from freshly ground coffee beans. He takes every single step in coffee making so seriously, I did feel a bit "paiseh" to ask him this and that while he's trying to make my coffee. But I just can't help.

It is definitely not the most tidy coffee shop you can find. All the accessories are basically all over the place, inside the short cupboard, in the big cupboard, on the shelves etc etc. Walking around the coffee shop, made you feel like you're actually playing treasure hunt, with a strong coffee smell at the background.

I just love it!

It's my 2nd visit to Coffee Lane, and I really love it. (Thanks to Da jie for the recommendation!) I would recommend all the coffee lovers to pay this little shop a visit. Hence, I hereby link the website, so that you can get the address, and pay this lovely coffee shop a visit :)

妈妈煮的，永远最好吃

每次回家，不管几天，都会把肚子吃得把裤头撑得要破。妈妈的拿手好菜不用说，这些年来，就是靠它们把我们养得肥肥白白的。不过，妈妈是不断创新的家庭主妇，新菜谱永远少不了。

所以每次回家，都幸福满满！

象lobak，但不是，忘了是什么

“番薯丸”，传统的唐山菜。以前阿公特别要求，妈妈特别学习的。很好吃！市面上还没看过呢！

阿恩小时候叫这道菜“稻田里的鱼”。好几次妈妈都没买到这种鱼，所以，很久没吃了。这次终于让我吃到，很高兴！！！

“韭菜pancake”，是我们最爱的早餐之一！

“菜头糕”也是！每年农历新年大年初一必吃！

妈妈弄的比这五张照片多很多，可是，嘴馋，很多时候，我都是先把食物吃了⋯⋯

2010年的生日，我回家。姐姐为我准备了一份生日礼物，我喜爱得很。

它，是个手搅咖啡器。

我一直爱喝咖啡，可是，没有人教，所以，一直啊都在喝instant coffee。直到受了同事的影响，我渐渐戒了每天喝instant coffee的习惯，要喝就喝好咖啡。同事在公司里，有架搅咖啡豆器。一开机，整个办公室都是香气。有时候，我精神不好，我会等待他到公司的时刻，然后睡眼惺忪的告诉他：“我不行了，我要喝咖啡。”。天生命好的我，同事会为我搅咖啡豆，泡咖啡给我喝。幸福到受不了！>.<

今天，我决定要泡一杯像“咖啡巷”（槟城一家咖啡店，下次再介绍）一样好喝的拿铁。于是，把家家酒搬出来。

香！

天生粗心，把咖啡豆弄翻了一地。

放进搅拌器，开始搅咯！

把打好的热牛奶和咖啡混在一起，拿铁！

虽然没有咖啡巷泡得好，不过，配我的85%巧克力，好是很不错的下午茶。

想泡拿铁的朋友，紧记，一定要用全脂牛奶！要不然，不好喝。

朝辞白帝彩云间，千里江陵一日还。
两岸猿声啼不住，轻舟已过万重山。

我乘着我的轻舟，一晃眼，2010年都快过去了。
是快乐的。

可是，除了快乐，我还要点什么？
